SiH4 has a wide variety of uses, including as a water repellant and an ingredient in battery energy-storage systems (BESS).

Construction of the first unit is expected to kick off in May, while construction on the second unit is expected to begin in early 2026. These are the first SiH4 units at the Gunsan plant, with a total investment value of US$263 million.
