Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) provider Technip Energies (Nanterre, France) started 2025 with a record-high backlog, which it expects will fuel major project completions over the next several quarters and the continued ramp-up of major projects awarded during 2023 and 2024. Industrial Info is tracking nearly $40 billion worth of active and proposed projects across the U.S. and Canada featuring T.EN's services, more than half of which is attributed to liquefied natural gas (LNG) developments.

T.EN is set to play a key role in two of the most widely anticipated LNG projects on the Gulf Coast: Energy Transfer LP's (NYSE:ET) (Dallas, Texas) LNG export facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Kimmeridge Texas Gas' (Houston, Texas) Commonwealth LNG export facility in Hackberry, Louisiana. The initial phases for these projects are expected to produce 5 million and 3.1 million metric tons per year of LNG, respectively.

T.EN signed an EPC contract in October with Energy Transfer, which recently struck an offtake deal for Lake Charles with MidOcean Energy (Washington, D.C.); it also would perform EPC services for Commonwealth LNG, which received permitting approval earlier this year from the U.S. Department of Energy. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Oil & Gas Production Database can read detailed reports on the Lake Charles and Commonwealth projects.

For more information on recent developments around these projects, see April 11, 2025, article - Energy Transfer Invites Partner to Help with Lake Charles LNG, and April 3, 2025, article - IIR Energy Finds U.S. LNG Exports Hit a Record in March.

"Our commercial pipeline remains intact, with more than €70 billion (US$79.32 billion) of opportunities over the next two years that are well diversified by geography and market," said Arnaud Pieton, the chief executive officer of T.EN, in a quarterly earnings-related press release. "Based on our customer engagement and the maturity of specific prospects, we remain positive about our order intake outlook in the coming periods. As an illustration, in April, we were awarded a major contract in the U.S. for Blue Point Number One ATR, the world's largest low-carbon ammonia-production facility."

CF Industries Holdings Incorporated (NYSE:CF) (Deerfield, Illinois), which touts itself as the world's largest producer of ammonia, is developing the Blue Point Ammonia Complex in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, which would include an autothermal reforming (ATR) ammonia production facility with carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) technology. The project remains in its permitting phase, with a final investment decision (FID) expected later this year. Subscribers can learn more from a detailed project report.

T.EN also notched up progress during the quarter on Verso Energy's (Paris, France) proposed e-fuels plant in Jesup, Georgia. Rely S.A., a joint venture between T.EN and John Cockerill Group (Seraing, Belgium), signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in March with Verso to develop seven e-fuel production plants globally: four in France, two in Finland and the Jesup project. The plant is designed to combine carbon dioxide (CO2) captured from the atmosphere with renewable hydrogen to produce methanol, which will be used in the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

Jesup, like the other six plants, is expected to produce more than 500,000 tons of SAF per year, with up to 90% lower lifecycle emissions than conventional jet fuel, according to T.EN. Subscribers can learn more from a detailed project report.
