Tenaska Anticipates June 2002 Start Up for 468MW Phase II of Georgia Generating Station

The following is an advisory by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Private Energy Producer (PEP) Tenaska Incorporated (Omaha, Nebraska) expects to complete construction of 468 mega-watt (MW) phase II of the Georgia Generating Station near Franklin, Georgia by June 2002. Construction of Phase I started during the summer of 2000 and was completed in June 2001 with commercial operations beginning in August 2001. The $275 million Georgia Generating Station will have a total capacity of 936MW.

Tenaska Incorporated formed Tenaska Georgia Partners L.P. to build, own, and operate the power plant. The partnership is comprised of affiliates of Tenaska Incorporated and Diamond Generating (Los Angeles, CA), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation (Tokyo, Japan).

Zachry Construction Company Corporation (San Antonio, Texas) a privately held company was awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the project. Utility Engineering (Amarillo, Texas) is the engineering subcontractor.

The Georgia Generating Station is a modern natural gas-fired simple-cycle plant consisting of six General Electric (GE) Frame 7FA combustion turbine generator sets with Low NOx Combustors to control air emissions and will employ ten people while operating. Electricity generated from the plant will be marketed on the wholesale market by Exelon.

Since its formation in 1987, Tenaska has become known for its expertise in power generation, power & natural gas marketing, fuel procurement, and generation asset development and acquisition. Tenaska currently has roughly 8,000MW of generating facilities and continues to develop power projects throughout the world. The company ranks among the top 25 daily traders in the North American natural gas market and is headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, with regional offices in Dallas, Texas and Calgary, Alberta.
