After years of construction, three ethylene units, all located in Louisiana, are set to begin commercial operations during December. The three units have a combined capacity addition of about 5.4 billion pounds per year of ethylene.

Close on the heels of these projects is yet another very large new unit planned to begin operations in the first quarter of next year, also located in Louisiana: Lotte Chemical Corporation's LACC unit located in Westlake. This year has been a big one for new ethylene capacity, with more than 6.6 billion pounds per year already coming online in the first half of 2018 in Texas.
