Topaz Power Completes $125 Million Expansion Project at Laredo Power Station

Construction of the project began in October 2007 and was completed earlier this year. Topaz Power anticipates full commercial operation of the plant at the beginning of August. The project consisted of adding two natural-gas-fired 100-megawatt GE Energy LMS100 combustion turbine generators to the existing facility. The new turbines will operate in a simple-cycle peaking capacity, helping to supply power to Topaz Power customers during the summer and winter months when energy demands are at their highest.
