U.S. Rig County Rises to Highest Since June - U.S. energy firms last week added oil and natural gas rigs for a fourth week in a row for the first time since February, energy services firm Baker Hughes (Houston, Texas) reported. The oil and gas rig count rose by seven to 549 in the week ending September 26, its highest since June. Baker Hughes said oil rigs rose by six to 424 last week, their highest since July, while gas rigs fell by one to 117, their lowest since July. (Reuters)

Pemex's August Crude Oil Exports Down 32% - Mexican state company Pemex (Mexico City) exported 500,203 barrels per day (BBL/d) of crude oil in August, a 32% drop year-on-year, as its local refineries processed slightly more, company data released late on Thursday showed. Crude oil and condensate production in August was 1.64 million BBL/d, similar to previous months, but lower than the same month last year. Imports of petroleum products, including gasoline and diesel, fell 19% in August compared with the previous month, and 38% year-on-year, to 457,849 BBL/d. Pemex's seven local refineries processed slightly more than 1.05 million BBL/d in August, up from the previous month, the numbers showed. (Reuters)

Green Plains Completes Sale of Tennessee Ethanol Plant to POET - Green Plains Incorporated (Omaha, Nebraska) has wrapped up the $190 million sale of its ethanol plant in Rives, Tennessee, to leading U.S. ethanol producer POET. "This acquisition strengthens our ability to serve southeastern markets and expands opportunities for farmers and rural communities across the region," said Jeff Broin, founder and chief executive of POET.
