Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Wyoming Interstate Company, Limited (Colorado Springs, Colorado), a subsidiary of El Paso Corporation (NYSE:EP) (Houston, Texas) has awarded the construction contract for its Kanda Lateral natural gas pipeline project to Sheehan Pipe Line Construction Company (Tulsa, Oklahoma). The construction contract involves the construction of 125 miles of 24” diameter natural gas transmission pipeline originating in Uintah County, Utah, and terminating at an interconnection with Wyoming Interstate Company’s existing mainline in Sweetwater County, Wyoming. Sheehan Pipe Line Construction will also construct several pipeline interconnections along the length of the new pipeline.

The second component of the project is the Mainline Expansion Project. The Mainline Expansion Project involves the addition of two 12,824 horsepower Solar Taurus T-70 turbine compressor packages rated at 60% at the existing Wamsutter compressor station located near Wamsutter, Wyoming. Wyoming Interstate Company has awarded the design and engineering contract for the compressor station expansion to Willbros Engineers, Incorporated (Tulsa, Oklahoma).

Wyoming Interstate Company, Incorporated is working in conjunction with Colorado Interstate Gas Company (Colorado Springs, Colorado), another subsidiary of El Paso Corporation, on both of these projects and has completed a majority of the engineering for the pipeline in-house. Wyoming Interstate Company filed its application with the FERC in October 2006 and expects to receive its approvals by May 2007. Construction on the greater than $150 million expansion project is scheduled to begin in July 2007, with a completion and in-service date targeted for November.
