Trump's Proposed Ethanol Policy Could Upend Fuel's Future

President Trump is considering changes to the fuel-blending limits that would allow for E15 blends all year. Industrial Info is tracking more than 698 million gallons of new ethanol capacity proposed for the U.S.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--When ethanol became a major blending component in gasoline many years ago, it changed the future of the U.S. agricultural market. It became a boom for several industries, as grassroot ethanol plants were constructed, farmers increased the acreage planted in corn, and chemical producers increased capacity for needed herbicides and fertilizers.

Now, President Trump is considering changes to the fuel-blending limits that would allow for E15 blends all year. This could be one of the determining factors for billions of dollars in capital projects that have been proposed to increase ethanol capacity. Industrial Info is tracking more than 698 million gallons of new ethanol capacity proposed for the U.S., some from corn and some from unconventional MSW resources.
