The first twin pack will become operational by August 5 and the second one by the end of August. By 2010, the Pratt & Whitney gas turbines will be converted to combined-cycle mode, along with the existing 35-MW General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) steam turbines.

The plant is equipped with four GE turbines, two of which are combustion turbines and the other two are steam turbines, producing a total of 140 MW. The plant was built in 1995 by Argentine food company Arcor.
