Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Amalgamated Sugar Company LLC, which is a unit of Snake River Sugar Company (Boise, Idaho), a grower-owned cooperative, is planning to invest more than $100 million at its beet sugar processing facilities in Idaho.
The Nampa facility is among the top 10 sugar beet processing plants in the world, and has the capacity to slice 12,500 beets per day and produce approximately 2 million pounds of sugar per day. The company's plans for the Nampa site include the addition of two continuous vacuum pans and evaporators.
At the Twin Falls site, the company is pursuing the addition of up to four chromatographic separators. Beet-slicing capacity at is rated at 10,000 per day. The company operates a 10-megawatt, coal-fired power plant at the site.
The company's factory in Paul is the largest beet sugar factory in the world, capable of 19,000 tons per day of sliced beets. The company's plans call for the addition of a crystallizer and the replacement of a lime kiln.
