Big Turtle Windfarm Begins Construction, Signs 20-Year Contract with DTE

The general contractor began site preparation on October 17, 2013, and construction is expected to be complete by late 2014.

The Big Turtle Windfarm will consist of 10 Gamesa G114 wind turbine generator sets of 2 MW each, and Gamesa will provide 12 years of operations and maintenance service for the facility. Site preparation began early to capture as much of the good weather as possible before the winter season begins. When the weather becomes unreasonable for work, construction will be halted and not resume until after the winter thaw.

The project is expected to cost almost $50 million and will provide approximately 9,000 homes with green energy.
