Brazil's Sepac Conducts Detailed Engineering for Paper Machine Addition at Curitiba Mill

Researched by Industrial Info Resources Latin America (Cordoba, Argentina)--Brazilian paper company Sepac (Parana, Brazil) is performing detailed engineering to proceed with the installation of a paper machine at the company's paper mill in Mallet, in the state of Parana. The total investment cost of the project is estimated to be about $36.7 million.

The project will increase the plant's manufacturing capacity through the addition of a new tissue paper machine, which will have a production capacity of 30,000 tons of tissue paper per year. The installation of the machine also requires the expansion of the facility.

Voith Paper Máquinas e Equipamentos Ltda (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was awarded the contract to install the machine. Bidding to hire further subcontractors began this month and will continue through the first quarter of 2012. Infrastructure construction is expected to start in the second quarter of 2011 and is scheduled to last approximately a year and a half.

Curitiba's Mallet mill began operating in 1970 and has a current production capacity of 70,000 tons of paper per year. Approximately 385 people work at the facility.
