Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Tianjin Electric Power Construction Company Limited (TEPC) (Tianjin), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), completed the boiler water pressure test for Unit 4 of Guodian Kuche Power Generation Company Limited's (Guodian Kuche) (Aksu, Xinjiang) 660-megawatt (MW) expansion project in one time on March 17, according to an announcement from the CEEC on March 19.

In order to ensure the success of the boiler water pressure test, the TEPC Kuche Project Department has made careful preparations. During the test, the primary steam pressure reached 29.5 megapascals (Mpa). No leakage or part deformation was found.

The Guodian Kuche Power Plant, located at Bei Jiao Xin Cun in the northwest suburb of Kuche County, in the Aksu prefecture of the Xinjiang autonomous region, is built and operated by Guodian Kuche, a subsidiary of Guodian Xinjiang Power Company Limited (Urumqi, Xinjiang). Xinjiang Electric Power Design Institute (Urumqi, Xinjiang) is serving as the designer for the project.

Prior to the construction of Phase II, the power plant had two 130-MW, coal-fired units commissioned in 2006. In 2007, in order to meet the increasing power demand in the region, Guodian Kuche kicked off the pre-stage preparations for the Phase II expansion project. Construction of the project kicked off on March 16, 2011, but it didn't receive final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission until November 2011.

Unit 3 of the project began commercial operations on December 25, 2012. According to the schedule, Unit 4 of the project will begin operations in June 2013. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply heat to an area of 11 million square meters and 150 tons per hour of steam to industrial users, and will replace five heating boiler rooms and 94 small, coal-fired boilers scattered in its service area.
