CenterPoint Energy Plans to Construct New Natural Gas Pipeline from Texas to Louisiana
The proposed $400 million Carthage to Perryville Project will have an initial capacity of approximately 1.2 billion cubic feet per day

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). CenterPoint Energy Gas Transmission Company (CEGT), a subsidiary of CenterPoint Energy Incorporated (NYSE:CNP)(Houston, Texas), is planning to construct a new natural gas pipeline from Panola County, Texas to Richard Parish, Louisiana. The proposed $400 million Carthage to Perryville Project will have an initial capacity of approximately 1.2 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d).
The new pipeline will be composed of 171.6 miles of 42 diameter pipeline supported by two new turbine based compressor stations. The first compressor station will be located near Panola, Texas, and the second one will be located near Vernon, Jackson Parish, Louisiana. The stations will be based on single turbine units of approximately 10,310 horsepower each. The compressor stations will be permitted with a phase II expansion, which could double the size of both stations with the addition of a second 10,310 horsepower turbine compressor unit.
Six pipeline interconnections are planned along the length of the pipeline. In Texas the pipeline will connect with the Energy Transfer Fuels system and Duke Energy Field Services. Both connections will be located in Panola County. In Louisiana, the pipeline will connect with the pipeline systems of Texas Gas, ANR Pipeline, Trunkline Gas and Columbia Gulf.
CEGT hopes to receive its certificate from the FERC in early 2007 and begin construction on the pipeline proposal in the first or second quarter of 2007, with a completion and in-service date targeted for the summer of 2007.
