China Blue Star Finishes 10,000 TPA Chromate Project

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--China Blue Star announced Monday that its 10,000-ton-per-annum (TPA) chromate project was put into operation, marking the end of chromium residue pollution in its chromate industry.

China National Blue Star (Group) Corporation (Beijing) and the China Academy of Science cooperated in the chrome oxide green model project, which has been running smoothly and producing qualified chrome oxide green, high-efficient desulfurization agent and potassium dichromate interim products.

The most important feature of the project is that it has realized zero omission of chromium residue and chromium dusts, which have been nuisances of the industry.

The project, located in Yima City of Henan Province, uses new technology, recycling more than 98% of chromate from raw materials. The factory also cuts energy consumption by 20% and the chromium residue by 80%. Remaining chromium residue can be converted to iron oxide desulferizer.

China's current chromium technologies fall far behind the world's advanced ones, converting only 75% of chromium, making general resource utilization lower than 20%. Producing one ton of chromium salt brings about 2.5 tons of poisonous chromium residue, thousands of times higher than the government's standard, heavily polluting water, soil and air.

China Blue Star has received governmental approval to build a 100,000 TPA clean chromate project, 10 times the current model.
