Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The signing ceremony for the development agreement of Hangzhou Huadian Jiangdong Thermal Power Company Limited's (HHJTPC) (Hangzhou, Zhejiang) 800-megawatt (MW) gas-fired Jiangdong cogeneration project was held at the Qianjin Industrial Park of Hangzhou Economic and Technology Development Zone on May 18, 2012. Zhanwei Shao, the mayor of Hangzhou; Guili Tong, the deputy mayor of Hangzhou; and other leaders and representatives from the provincial development and reform commission attended the ceremony where the agreement was signed.
According to the agreement, the HHJTPC, a project company that was established by Huadian International Power with joint investments from Hangzhou Jiangdong Development Construction & Investment Company Limited (Hangzhou, Zhejiang) and Hangzhou Gas (Group) Company Limited (Hangzhou, Zhejiang), will invest about $470 million to build two 400-MW gas-fired combined-cycle units at the south bank of the Qiantang River in Qianjin Industrial Park to provide combined heat and power supply to the local industrial park. Each unit will be furnished with a 9F class combustion turbine.
At the ceremony, Shao said: "The official signing of the development agreement is another important event in the continuous cooperation between Hangzhou and those state-owned enterprises directly under the central government. As the listed flagship of China Huadian Corporation, Huadian International Power is one of the largest power producers in China, with outstanding achievements in various sectors such as wind power, coal power, solar power, hydropower and gas-fired power. As an important part of the Greater Jiangdong Industrial Concentrated Zone, Qianjin Industrial Park is growing swiftly and has strong demand on its power load." Construction of the project will play an active role in alleviating the power shortage in the greater Jiangdong area."
According to the schedule, both units of the project will begin operation by the end of 2013.
