Construction Begins on Bluestem Windfarm in Kansas
Renewable Energy Systems Americas Incorporated has begun construction on its 198-MW BlueStem Windfarm.
SUGAR LAND--January 18, 2016--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Renewable Energy Systems Americas Incorporated (RES Americas) (Broomfield, Colorado) has begun construction on the BlueStem Windfarm in Kansas. The project will provide 198 megawatts (MW) of wind-generated power to the grid.
Bluestem Windfarm will be located in Beaver County. It will have 60 V117 Vestas wind turbines, at 3.3 MW each.
RES Americas has begun site preparation and anticipates completion in the fall of 2016.
Bluestem Windfarm, with a total investment value (TIV) of $350 million, is RES America's third owned power project. The first owned project, the 60-MW Whirlwind Energy Center, located in Floydada, Texas, was financed and constructed in 2006. The second owned project, the 166-MW Hackberry Windfarm, in Albany, Texas, was completed in 2008.
Another project by RES Americas, the Rattlesnake Windfarm in Texas, is also scheduled to become operational in the fall. The windfarm, with a TIV of $318 million, will be located in McCulloch County, and is estimated to bring 150-200 MW of wind power to the grid. This project is currently in the planning stages.
The company has developed/constructed more than 8,000 MW of renewable energy projects. This constitutes 10% of all operating windfarms in the U.S.
