Construction of $180 Million Sports Drink Plant and Distribution Center in Oklahoma in Full Swing

Quaker Oats Company (Chicago, Illinois), a division of PepsiCo Incorporated (Purchase, New York), is constructing a large distribution center and drink processing plant in Pryor, Oklahoma. Construction on the project began this past July. The processing building, a 300,000 square foot structure has been completed and the expectation is that the 1.1 million square foot distribution center will be ready to receive its racking system before the end of the first quarter. The plant will begin full operations by September 2007.

The new processing plant will produce both Gatorade and Propel Fitness Water for distribution in the South central United States. The Haskell Company (Jacksonville, Florida), the owner’s design build firm, awarded subcontracts for mechanical and electrical trades related to the building. Quaker procured the major process equipment and will install them with their own crew.

PepsiCo merged with The Quaker Oats Company in 2001. In 2005, Pepsi recorded strong double-digit growth for Gatorade, while also notching up gains with its fitness water rage Propel.
