Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Civil excavation of the foundation for boiler No. 1 of the Chongqing Longqiao Cogeneration Power Project kicked off smoothly on June 13, 2012. This means that the construction of the main works for the project has officially started, according to an announcement from China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), the construction contractor for the project, on June 14, 2012.
The construction is being performed by Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company (ZTPC) (Hangzhou, Zhejiang), a subsidiary of the CEEC.
A key power source project listed in the energy development plan for the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15) of Chongqing City, the Chongqing Longqiao Cogeneration Power Project is located in Fuling District, in Chongqing City, occupying a total area of about 40 hectares in the proposed Longqiao Industrial Park. The project, which has a total investment of about $490 million, has a total planned capacity of 640 megawatts (MW), including one 300-MW, pump-condensing, steam turbine generating unit; two 50-MW, back-pressure power generating units; and three 80-MW, back-pressure power generating units. One 300-MW, pump-condensing, coal-fired unit furnished with one 1,100-ton-per-hour cyclic fluidize bed (CFB) boiler and two 50-MW back-pressure units, each with one 450-ton-per-hour CFB boiler, will be built in Phase I.
Chongqing Fuling Longqiao Thermal Power Company Limited (Chongqing), a subsidiary of China Perfect Machinery Industry Corporation Limited (Shanghai), is responsible for the development as well as future operations of the project. China Sinogy Electric Engineering Company Limited (CSEEC) (Shanghai), also a subsidiary of China Perfect Machinery, served as the general contractor for the project. ZTPC won the civil construction contract for Unit 1 of the project through public bidding in May 2012.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held in Chongqing on December 25, 2011. On December 26, CSEEC officially awarded the main equipment supply contract of boilers, turbines and generators for the project to Dongfang Electric Corporation (Chengdu, Sichuan). On February 28, 2012, the preliminary engineering report prepared by CSEEC successfully passed the examination of an expert panel.
According to the schedule, the first unit of the project will begin operations by the end of June 2013. Upon completion, the project will be able to generate 4.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and supply 4 million metric tons of heat to its users every year.
