Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The cornerstone-laying ceremony of Dandong Fengneng Industry Company Limited's (DFIC) forging facility for the production of wind turbine components was held July 16 in northeastern China's Liaoning province. The project has a total planned investment of about $308 million and will be built in different phases. Phase I will cost about $88 million. Upon completion, the project will become the largest forging facility for wind turbines in China. The facility will fill a gap in the Chinese market, which currently imports many wind turbine components. The company has already received a considerable amount of orders from international wind power expos.
Wind power has become a booming industry around the world. The industry is also specifically encouraged in the China's Medium- and Long-Term Plan for Renewable Energy Development. China is planning to build a large amount of on-grid wind farms during the remainder of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2006-10).
The objective of DFIC is to become a leading producer in the international market through construction and independent research and development. Phase I of the project is expected to begin operation by the end of this year. Upon completion of Phase I, DFIC will have an annual production capacity of 120,000 metric tons for wind power components, with an annual sales income of over $250 million.
