Icahn Increases Stake in Cheniere - Billionaire activist investor Carl Icahn has increased his stake in liquefied natural gas producer Cheniere Energy Incorporated (NYSE:LNG) (Houston, Texas) from 8.2% to 11.43%. Shares in the company rose more than 2% on Tuesday.

Exelon, Pepco File for Reconsideration of Merger - Exelon Corporation (NYSE:EXC) (Chicago, Illinois) and Pepco Holdings Incorporated (NYSE:POM) (Washington, D.C.) have filed a petition with the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia to reconsider the $6.8 billion merger of the two companies. Despite approval from surrounding states, D.C. regulators rejected the proposed merger in late August, stating that the companies did not elaborate on how it served the public interest.

Mexico's CFE Begins Site Preparation for Combined-Cycle Power Station - Mexico's state-owned electric utility, Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) (Mexico City), has signed a contract for the construction of a combined-cycle, natural gas-fueled power station in the municipality of Empalme, in the state of Sonora. The estimated investment for the project is $477 million.

Japan's Kyushu Electric Prepares for Restart of Second Nuclear Reactor - Kyushu Electric Power Company Incorporated (Fukuoka, Japan) has loaded all 157 fuel rods for the No. 2 nuclear reactor at the Sendai Nuclear Power Plant in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima. The company was conducting inspections of the facility and its equipment in order to put the reactor back online.

U.S. Crude Shows Uptick on Tuesday - U.S. crude oil prices rose about 2% on Tuesday as many analysts forecast a drawdown in U.S. crude reserves.

PRODUCTION
Shell to Cut Jobs in Malaysia - Royal Dutch Shell plc (NYSE:RDS-A) (The Hague, Netherlands) says that it will cut about 1,300 or 20% of its workforce from its Malaysian unit over the next two years.
