NATURAL GAS
Too Much of a Good Thing: Natural Gas Production Expected to Continue Growing, Holding Prices Low Through 2020 - North American natural gas production is projected to grow by 28% between 2014 and 2020, suggesting a prolonged period of low prices in an already oversupplied market, speakers told the 27th Annual Rocky Mountain Energy Summit in Denver.
POWER
Record Heat in Northeast - Tuesday was the hottest day of 2015 for New York City, when temperature reached 97 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures in Boston reached 96 degrees. However, Wednesday is expected to begin a lowering of temperatures as the region transitions into autumn temperatures.
PIPELINES
Alberta Regulator to Allow Nexen to Reopen Some Oil Sands Pipelines - Regulators in Alberta are allowing oil sands producer Nexen, a subsidiary of China's CNOOC Limited (NYSE:CEO), to reopen 40 of 95 closed pipelines, following a large crude oil spill from the system that was discovered in July.
FINANCIAL
Australia's Woodside Proposes $8 Billion Takeover of Oil Search Limited - Australian oil and gas producer Woodside Limited has proposed an $8 billion all-share takeover for rival Oil Search Limited. A successful takeover would give Woodside a 29% stake in Papua New Guinea's PNG LNG project, one of the more lucrative and expandable liquefied natural gas projects in operation, as low crude oil prices and low Asian demand drive down LNG prices.
REFINING
ConocoPhillips Named as Sole Owner of Coking Unit in Dispute with PDVSA - A judge has upheld a ruling granting ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) sole ownership of a delayed coking unit at a refinery in Sweeny, Texas. Venezuela's PDVSA had entered a joint venture with Conoco to operate the unit in the 1990s, but crude oil supply disruptions triggered an agreement dissolving the pact, which was upheld by the court.
