Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Perth, Australia)--Eastern Iron Limited (ASX:EFE) (St. Leonards, New South Wales) has announced that it will be continuing to contract the services of Engenium Pty Limited (Perth, Western Australia) for a definitive feasibility study on the Nowa Nowa iron ore project.
Engenium is a subsidiary of Resource Development Group Limited (ASX:RDG) (Perth). Engenium has become well known for its progressive approach to project delivery. The company originally was contracted to assist Eastern Iron with its scoping studies in May 2012, and they finalised the studies later that year. The results indicated a positive outcome for Eastern Iron.
Upon board approval, Engenium was selected to continue providing the definitive feasibility studies to increase the project accuracy for the company. "RDG has a strategy of providing integrated mining services via its four subsidiaries," said Jeff Brill, the Managing Director of Resources Development Group. "Engenium has a solid track record of progressing explorers into production, and it is always pleasing to see repeat work and a study take the next step forward."
Eastern Iron acquired the Nowa Nowa project in early 2012. The company expects it to be a quick turnaround on investment that will assist with the financing of other projects, including the Eulogie iron ore mine and processing plant. The Eulogie project, located in Queensland, was acquired in January 2011.
Early scoping studies indicated that the Nowa Nowa project comprises a 10 million-tonne resource deposit. The scoping study results also indicated a high grade of iron ore, about which the company is investigating options of magnetite, direct shipping ore (DSO), or possible crushing and magnetic separation to produce a higher grade of ore.
The processing plant initially will be capable of producing about 1 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of iron ore product.
Eastern Iron expects results from the feasibility study to include costs for mining, processing, and administrative and environmental management, which includes health and safety.
