Enterprise Products Partners LP Plans $60 Million NGL Fractionation Expansion

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Enterprise Products Partners LP (NYSE:EPD) (Houston, Texas) is planning a second expansion on top of the 15,000 barrel per day (BBL/d) debottleneck project currently ongoing at its Mont Belvieu, Texas, natural gas liquids (NGL) Fractionation plant. Currently, the Mont Belvieu facility has the capacity to fractionate up to 210,000 BBL/d of NGLs from eight existing supply connections. The current debottleneck project is expected to be completed in late 2005.

Next in line for the Mont Belvieu plant is a proposed 60,000 BBL/d expansion that will cost $60 million or more to construct and will involve the addition of a new fractionation train to produce ethane, propane, butane, isobutane, and natural gasoline. Enterprise has already completed the initial engineering and design work for the project, with in-house staff. The expansion project will be designed to facilitate the handling of increased volumes of NGLs that are expected to begin flowing out of the Rocky Mountain segment of Enterprises Mid-America Pipeline system that currently has a capacity of 225,000 BBL/d, which could increase to 275,000 BBL/d. Enterprise expects to begin construction on the Mont Belvieu NGL expansion project before the end of 2005, with completion scheduled for mid-2007, after an 18-month construction timeline.

Enterprise Products Partners LP has an enterprise value of over $13 billion and includes approximately 31,000 miles of natural gas, NGL and crude oil pipelines located both on and offshore. Enterprise owns stakes in 17 NGL processing facilities with a combined capacity of 615,000 BBL/d and storage facilities capable of storing 164 million barrels of NGLs.
