First 600-Megawatt unit of Tangzhai Power Plant Begins Operation
The first 600-megawatt (MW) unit of Huadian Guizhou Tangzhai Power Generation Company Limited's (Qingzhen, Guizhou) Tangzhai Power Plant has been connected to the grid.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The first 600-megawatt (MW) unit of Huadian Guizhou Tangzhai Power Generation Company Limited's (Qingzhen, Guizhou) Tangzhai Power Plant has been connected to the grid. The project is now in the commissioning phase, according Sichuan Electric Power Construction No. 3 Engineering Company Limited (Neijiang, Sichuan), the construction contractor on the project.
The Huadian Tangzhai power plant, located in Tangzhai Village, Wangzhuang Xiang of Qingzhen city, is a relocation and expansion project of the Huadian Qingzhen Power Plant. The power plant has a total planned capacity of four 600-MW units. Of which, two 600-MW supercritical coal-fired units will be built in Phase I. The power plant is jointly invested by Guizhou Wujiang Hydropower Development Company Limited (Guiyang, Guizhou), Guizhou Zaokuang Energy Company Limited (Guiyang, Guizhen).
The Phase I project received preliminary approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) to kick off pre-stage preparation in June 2007. In May 2009, the project received final approval from the NDRC. Construction of the project officially began on October 30, 2009. Hebei Electric Power Survey and Design Institute (Shijiazhuang, Hebei) and Guizhou Electric Power Design Institute (Guiyang, Guizhou) are jointly responsible for the design and engineering of the project. Central South Electric Power Engineering Supervision Company Limited (Wuhan, Hubei) is responsible for the construction supervision of the project, which is adopted with the "W" flame-type boiler made by Harbin Electric Corporation (Harbin, Heilongjiang).
Presently, all the parties involved in the project are working closely toward the successful completion of the 168-hour full load trial operation of the project. According to the schedule, Unit 1 will be put into commercial operation in May 2012, and the entire project will be completed in June 2012.
Following the commissioning of Phase I, the owner is also working closely with related parties for the pre-stage preparation of the Phase II expansion project.
