Fugro Spatial Solutions Wins Survey Work on Ichthys LNG Project
Fugro Spatial Solutions won a dimensional control survey subcontract for the Ichthys liquefied natural gas project in Australia
Researched by Industrial Info Resources Australia (Perth, Australia)--Fugro Spatial Solutions, a subsidiary of Fugro NV Group, won a dimensional control survey subcontract for the Ichthys liquefied natural gas (LNG) project. JKC Australia LNG Proprietary Limited awarded the bid. The Ichthys project is owned and operated by INPEX Corporation (TYO:1605) (Tokyo).
The Ichthys LNG project will supply 8.4 million metric tons per year of LNG to the market from the end of 2016, or from early 2017. Ichthys also will provide 1.6 million metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per year and 100,000 barrels of condensate at peak capacity.
Construction has been under way at the Ichthys LNG production plant site at Blaydin Point, near Darwin in the Northern Territory, since early 2012.
JKC is the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the entirety of the large-scale downstream portion of the $34 billion Ichthys project. JKC is a joint venture between JGC Corporation (TYO:1963) (Tokyo, Japan), KBR Incorporated (NYSE:KBR) (Houston, Texas) and Chiyoda Corporation (TYO:6366) (Yokohama, Japan).
The contract, which was awarded to Fugro earlier this month, was effective immediately. Fugro will supply high precision survey services to the Ichthys downstream project team for the installation and hook-up of the LNG production train modules.
Fugro Spatial Solutions is a specialist company that has been operating for about 40 years, working in the mining, oil and gas, sustainable energy and building industries and the public sector. Fugro Spatial Solutions provides survey, remote sensing, aerial mapping and geospatial solutions.
Fugro will provide its services for the Ichthys project as part of its contract until the end of 2015.
