Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) has unveiled its new 2.75-120 Wind Turbine at the 2014 European Wind Energy Association conference in Barcelona, Spain. The model is available on a steel, hybrid or space frame tower, allowing the wind turbine to adapt to unique site conditions and bring wind power to new places. The tower height ranges from 85 to 139 meters.
Short-term or long-term energy storage is accessible with the 2.75-120 Wind Turbine, making wind power more predictable, flexible and receptive through battery software applications. Short-term storage is integrated at the turbine level, and long-term storage is centralized for the windfarm.
These options further customize GE's offering, based on site or operator needs. Providing 5% more energy production, GE said the new model is a sharper and more powerful wind turbine than its forerunner, the 2.5-120.
Last month, GE renewed its obligation to its Ecomagination program, saying it would devote an additional $10 billion for research and development by 2020. A fraction of that investment will go toward efforts to reduce the costs and increase the output of GE wind turbine.
