Godawari Green Energy Begins Operations at India's First Utility-Scale Solar Project

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Godawari Green Energy Limited (Raipur, India), a part of the HIRA Group, began producing power this month at India's first utility-scale solar power project. Construction began in late 2011 on a 50-megawatt concentrating solar power plant, which is located near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan state, India.

The project uses parabolic trough technology and incorporates a Siemens SST-700 steam turbine. A joint venture between Lauren Engineers and Constructors (Abilene, Texas) and India's Jyoti Power Structures provided engineering, procurement and construction services for the project.
