Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The signing ceremony for the construction contract for the 2,000-megawatt (MW) Maoming Bohe coal-fired power plant was held in Guangzhou, the capital city of South China's Guangdong province, on January 23, 2014, according to an announcement from the CEEC on January 26.

Guangdong Power Engineering Corporation (GPEC) (Guangzhou, Guangdong), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), signed the construction contract for Yudean Bohe Coal & Electricity Company Limited's (Maoming, Guangdong) 2,000-megawatt (MW), coal-fired Bohe power plant grassroot project with project investor Guangdong Yudean Group Company Limited (Gaungzhou, Guangdong).

The Bohe plant is west of Shangkan Village, in Diancheng Town of Dianbai County. It is the largest power project invested by Yudean Group, with eight 1,000-MW, coal-fired units to be built in phases. According to plans, the power plant will be furnished with two ultra-supercritical, single-reheat, pulverized coal-fired boilers with balanced ventilation to drive two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, single-shaft, condensing steam turbine generator units in the initial stage.

East China Electric Power Design Institute (Shanghai) is responsible for the project's design and engineering. The main turbine, generator and boiler equipment for the project was awarded to Harbin Boiler Company Limited (Harbin, Heilongjiang) and Shanghai Electric Corporation (Shanghai) in December 2012.

According to the schedule, the first unit is expected to complete the 168-hour, continuous, full-load trial operation in November 2015 and the full-load trial operation for Unit 2 in March 2016. Upon completion, the project will be a large-scale power plant in the Electric Power System of the Guangdong province and play an important role in alleviating the power shortage in Maoming, as well as the entire western Guangdong region.
