Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Grant Forest Products, Incorporated (Toronto, Ontario), a privately held company, has broken ground on one of two planned oriented strand board (OSB) mills, both to be located in South Carolina. Site work is currently underway for the Canadian companys first U.S. foothold, located in Allendale County, at an estimated cost of $200 million. The project is tentatively scheduled for completion in late 2006. Groundbreaking for the second OSB mill is scheduled for next spring in Clarendon County.
The second planned OSB mill to be constructed will be located in an unspecified location in Clarendon County approximately 60 miles away at an estimated cost of $200 million. The second mill will be identical to the Fairfax plant in size and number of employees; however, capacity is still undisclosed for either location. All raw materials for either facility will be purchased locally, thereby increasing revenues in the local economy.
