Grupo Mexico reported a net income of US$1.97 billion in Q3, up 62.9% compared to the same period last year. The results were driven by the mining division, which generated net income of US$1.8 billion in the last quarter, a 69.1% year-on-year increase.
The increase was mainly driven by higher commodity prices. To put things in perspective, copper prices per pound rose 34.2% year-on-year in Q3, silver prices increased 58.7%, and molybdenum prices were 35.3%, according to Grupo Mexico's report.

Grupo Mexico's mining division produces copper, molybdenum, zinc, silver, gold, and sulfuric acid. Quarterly production of copper, molybdenum, zinc, and silver declined year on year, while gold and sulphuric acid output increased.
In Q3, the company produced 260,000 tonnes of copper, a 1.9% year-on-year drop mainly due to lower ore grades in Peruvian operations and Asarco in the United States. Copper production in the first nine months of 2026 totaled 776,000 tonnes, compared with 798,000 in the same period of 2025.
Meanwhile, molybdenum output in Q3 reached 7,700 tonnes, a 2.2% year-on-year drop, bringing accumulated production in 2026 to 22,263 tonnes, down 5.2%. Gold output reached 10,292 ounces in Q3, 2.4% more than in the same period last year.
