Hebi Power Plant Unit Passes 168-Hour Trial Operation

The Phase III expansion project of the large-scale pithead power plant, built beside the former Hebi power plant by Hebi Fenghe Power Generation Company Limited (Henan, China), is an important power construction project to the province’s 11th five-year plan (2006-10). The $600 million project is jointly invested by Henan Provincial Investment Corporation (Henan, China) (50%), Hebi Coal Industry (Group) Company Limited (Henan, China) (46%) and Hebi Economic Development and Investment Corporation (Henan, China) (4%). The project will be furnished with two 600-megawatt (MW) supercritical coal-fired units, along with a high-efficient electrostatic dust-removing device, a continuous-flue-gas-monitoring device and a desulfurization device, for a total installed capacity of 1,200 MW. The project will also carry out flue gas desulfurization reformation for the two 200-MW coal-fired units built in Phase I of Hebi power plant.

The project’s construction officially began September 30, 2005. With the support from governments in various levels, Central China Power Grid and the provincial electric power company, the project has been carried out smoothly. The project company has established a special leading team to commission the project since the plant’s power supply was successfully put into operation. Tests on all subsections were completed as scheduled. Unit 1 of the Phase III expansion was then smoothly synchronized to the grid on September 9, 2007.
