Heinz Company (NYSE:HNZ) (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) has started construction on a state-of-the-art frozen-food facility in Florence, South Carolina. The $105 million facility will increase the company's production of Weight Watchers Smart Ones and Boston Market frozen entrees. Plans call for a 225,000-square-foot facility that will be completed in fall 2009. Site utilities and pouring of the building pad are in progress.
The facility is being built on a 49-acre site in the Pee Dee Touchstone Energy Commerce near Interstate 95 and S.C. 327.
