NOVA Chemicals was forced to shut down the 1.8 billion-pound-per-year Olefins (Hot/Cold) Ethylene unit at its Corunna, Ontario, plant, due to emergency repairs. Due to this outage, NOVA Chemicals has declared force majeure on polyethylene (PE) resins produced in the Ontario area. A restart attempt is expected late next week.
Chevron Phillips Chemical shut down the 1.84 billion-pound-per-year 1592 Ethylene unit at its Baytown (Cedar Bayou), Texas, plant, on April 26, for minor maintenance. A restart date is undisclosed at this time.
Pinnacle Polymers completed a 40-day planned maintenance turnaround at the end of March of the approximately 600 million-pound-per-year G1 Polypropylene unit at its Garyville, Louisiana, plant. Pinnacle Polymers continues to plan a plant-wide turnaround that will occur in October 2022.

Achema AB has scheduled a planned 25-day maintenance turnaround of the 600,000-metric-ton-per-year Ammonia 1 unit, to kick off in late June, at its Jonava Fertilizer Plant in Lithuania. Separately, a planned 45-day maintenance turnaround and upgrade of the 590,000-metric-ton-per-year Ammonia 2 unit is scheduled to be performed in the summer of 2022.
Severodonetsk Azot Association JSC has scheduled a planned maintenance turnaround of the 550,000-metric-ton-per-year Ammonia 1A unit at its Severodonetsk Azot Fertilizers Plant in the Ukraine. The works are expected to take place during June.
NS Styrene Monomer Company Limited restarted the 485.21 million-pound-per-year No.2 Ethylbenzene unit on April 21 at its Oita Chemicals Plant in Japan. The unit was shut down for a 23-day planned turnaround on March 30.
