Formosa Plastics was forced to shut down its 2.64 billion-pound-per-year Olefins 3 unit in Point Comfort, Texas, on June 4, due to a loss of feed supply from a third party. The unit will undergo some minor maintenance in preparation for a turnaround in February 2022. Expectations are to attempt a restart at the beginning of next week.

ExxonMobil has postponed a major turnaround of the 2.15 billion-pound-per-year BOP-X Ethylene unit at its Baytown, Texas, plant, due to COVID-19. Instead of the turnaround, which was planned to begin in October, the unit will see a reduction in production rates before minor maintenance.

Koch Fertilizer began a planned maintenance turnaround on June 1 of the 529,796-metric-ton-per-year Ammonia Unit 1 and Unit 2 in Enid, Oklahoma. The turnaround will last approximately 30 days.

International
MOL Petrolkemia Zrt plans to begin a plant-wide maintenance turnaround on July 20 at its 1.36 billion-pound-per-year Tiszaujvaros Petrochemical Complex in Hungary. Completion is scheduled for July 31. The next major turnaround is planned for 2023.

Ufaorgsintez PAO on June 8, restarted the 88 million-pound-per-year Low-Density Polyethylene Unit 202-205 at its Ufa Chemical Complex in Russia. The unit was shut down for a planned turnaround on June 1.

Mitsui Chemicals Incorporated on June 4, began a 32-day planned turnaround of the 18.73 million-pound-per-year ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene unit at its Iwakuni Ohtake Chemical Complex in Japan. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by July 5.
