IIR Top Refining News Today: April 28th 2021

North America
Marathon restarted the 140,000-BBL/d FCCU 3 and 31,500-BBL/d HF Alky 3, on April 27, at its 437,000-BBL/d Galveston Bay Refinery in Texas City, Texas. The FCCU 3 was shut on February 22, and the HF Alky 3 was shut on April 2. The units previously were expected to restart on April 23.

Canadian Natural Resources Limited has completed a 30-day planned maintenance turnaround, which started on March 29, at its 144,000-BBL/d Fort McMurray Oil Sands Upgrader (Horizon Oil Sands) in Alberta, Canada. The restart of the units is expected by May 5.

International
CNOOC Huizhou Refining Company restarted the 200,000-BBL/d Crude Unit (CDU) 2, on April 27, at its 440,000-BBL/d Huizhou Refinery in China. Major units within Area 5 - Area 8, which include the 96,000-BBL/d FCCU 2, 68,000-BBL/d Diesel Hydrotreater 2 and 48,000-BBL/d Gasoline Hydrotreater 2, are being restarted sequentially at this time.

Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) expects a 25-day planned maintenance shutdown of the 60,000-BBL/d Delayed Coker (DCU) and 13,000-BBL/d Coker Heavy Gas Oil Hydrotreater (CHTU) units, beginning August 10, at its 300,000-BBL/d Mangalore Refinery in India. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by September 3.

Total Raffinerie Mitteldeutschland GmbH remains on schedule for a six-week, plant-wide maintenance turnaround at its 240,000-BBL/d Leuna Refinery in Germany. The turnaround is scheduled to kick off in mid-May, and completion is expected by the end of June.
