Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Three firms in India plan to revive five mothballed fertilizer units: Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited, Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited, and Talcher Fertilizer Limited.

The companies aim to boost fertilizer production at their Gorakhpur, Sindri, Baruni, Ramagundam and Talcher facilities, partly to reduce India's dependence on imports from China. All five plants are planned to be commissioned by 2022.

Ramagundam already started operations in May at its Karimnagar (Ramagundam) Fertilizer Unit, which is designed to produce 726,000 metric tonnes per year of ammonia.
