India's Refiners to Boost FCCU Capacity

India's refiners are planning to add more than 425,000 barrels per day of fluid catalytic cracker (FCC) capacity by the end of 2029, in an effort to better convert HVGO (heavy-vacuum gas oil) into gasoline and other petroleum products

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--India's refiners are planning to add more than 425,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) of fluid catalytic cracker (FCC) capacity by the end of 2029, in an effort to better convert HVGO (heavy-vacuum gas oil) into gasoline and other petroleum products.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) (New Delhi), India's largest refiner, plans to add three FCC units, with a combined capacity of 123,000 BBL/d. By end of 2026, IOCL's Numaligarh Refinery plans to add 39,000 BBL/d, while Chennai Petroleum Corporation plans to add 50,000 BBL/d.

Nayara Energy Limited (Mumbai) and HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited are planning new 90,000-BBL/d and 58,000-BBL/d FCC units, respectively, while Mangalore Refinery plans to add a 64,000-BBL/d FCC unit by 2029.
