Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 100,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Cremona refinery, located in the province of Cremona in Italy, is restarting operations after a 28-day overhaul. The plant is owned by Oilinvest B.V. (Rotterdam, Netherlands) and operated by Tamoil Italia SpA (Milan, Italy).
The shutdown was initiated after a lack of demand for fuel made operations unnecessary and an excess of feedstock began to accumulate. The company took advantage of the situation and performed the routine inspection and maintenance that was originally scheduled for later this year.
On April 25, the refinery began the restart process, and the plant should be fully operational this week.
Since last October, when the last planned overhaul took place, the refinery has been using only a single crude unit, while the Topping 2 unit was taken offline.
In 1988, Oilinvest B.V. acquired a majority interest in Tamoil Italia SpA (Milan, Italy), owner of the Cremona crude oil refinery. In addition to this plant, Oilinvest has refineries in Hamburg, Germany, and Collombey, Switzerland, as well as distribution networks in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Spain. The Oilinvest B.V. Group markets products primarily under the Tamoil brand.
