Japan's JFE Holdings Enters Offshore Wind Sector
Japan's JFE Holdings will make a full-scale entry into the offshore wind power generation business.
Released Wednesday, August 25, 2021
Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Japan's JFE Holdings will make a full-scale entry into the offshore wind power generation business. JFE's steel, engineering, trading and shipbuilding subsidiaries will work together to receive orders for materials for assembly and installation. In the future, JFE would like to work on operations and maintenance.
The key is the engineering business, and JFE Engineering Corporation has decided to make a capital investment for a new monopile foundation plant for offshore wind power generation facilities. The monopile foundation structure is an extremely thick, large-diameter, long and super-heavy object, which is difficult to manufacture at existing domestic factories. When completed, this plant will be the first monopile manufacturing factory in Japan. For this reason, the steel business plans to supply high-quality, extra-thick, large-sized and high-strength planks. In June 2021, JFE Steel Corporation launched a new continuous casting facility in the Kurashiki Integrated Steel Mill of West Japan Works.
