Japan's Seibu Oil to Close, Convert Yamaguchi Refinery

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Seibu Oil Company Limited, a subsidiary of Idemitsu Kosan Company Limited (Tokyo, Japan), is permanently closing its Yamaguchi Refinery in Sanyo-Onoda, Japan, in March.

The company expects demolition of the 120,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) refinery will be completed by 2030. The site is to be converted to a carbon-free power plant and research and development center. Seibu Oil also hopes to construct a terminal for hydrogen and ammonia production in the future.
