Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Jingoli Power (Lawrenceville, New Jersey), which provides engineering, consulting and other services for transmission and distribution projects across the U.S., is at work on several projects that will carry energy from high-generation areas to cities that are seeing a growing demand for infrastructure, from both fossil-fuel and renewable resources. Industrial Info is tracking about $2.7 billion in active projects involving Jingoli.

Among Jingoli's projects under construction is a closely watched effort in New Jersey: Public Services Enterprise Group's (NYSE:PEG) (PSEG) (Newark, New Jersey) Metuchen-Trenton-Burlington Project, which is designed to strengthen an existing transmission system by rebuilding an existing 138-kilovolt line so it can accommodate 230 kilovolts. The line, which runs between the PSEG's Metuchen Switching Station in Edison and Burlington Switching Station in Burlington, comprises four segments:
The power plant, which itself does not involve Jingoli, is in its earliest construction phase, while the transmission line and switching station are set to begin construction in first-quarter 2020. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the transmission line, switching station and power plant.
Over the longer term, Jingoli has signed on to provide equipment-manufacturing and engineering services to one of the most ambitious power-transmission proposals in the Midwest: Direct Connect Development Company's (DC DevCo) (Minneapolis, Minnesota) SOO Green Renewable Rail project, an underground line that is expected to carry wind-generated energy from Mason City, Iowa, to the Chicago area. The 349-mile, estimated $1.29 billion transmission line would run along existing railroads and carry 2.1 gigawatts (GW).
"The successful deployment of this high-voltage, direct-current (HVDC) technology along railroads will create a market segment that doesn't exist today, and DC DevCo believes that the SOO Green project will set the standard regarding how transmission lines are developed and constructed in the U.S.," said Trey Ward, DC DevCo's chief executive officer, in a press release earlier this year.
Other aspects of the proposed project include a pair of $600 million converter stations in Mason City and Plano, Illinois, on opposite ends of the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) and PJM markets, respectively. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the transmission line and Mason City and Plano stations.
