In North America, most of the largest projects are taking place in Canada, which boasts more than $12.9 billion worth of projects under construction. Examples include IAMGOLD Corporation's (NYSE:IAG) (Toronto, Ontario) above-ground gold mine and mill near Gogama, Ontario. Construction kicked off in 2020, and upon completion, the facility is expected to extract 367,000 ounces of gold per year from 13 million tons of milled ore feed per year over an 18-year mine life. Construction is expected to be completed in the summer of 2023.
