The world is in the midst of an energy transition. While coal, natural gas and nuclear contribute substantially to global power spending, projects focused on renewable energy such as wind ($1.7 trillion), hydropower ($1.2 trillion) and solar ($860.4 billion) are becoming increasingly prevalent. Examples of increasingly large-scale renewable energy projects include Invenergy LLC's (Chicago, Illinois) 999-megawatt (MW) Traverse wind project in Oklahoma, which is set to kick off construction later this year for completion in 2023 (see project report) and China's 2,400-MW Jinsha River Xulong Hydropower Station, construction of which is planned to begin soon (see project report).
