Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 360-megawatt (MW) Unit 1 at Holcomb Power Station, which is located in Holcomb, Kansas, was shut down overnight due to a hydraulic leak on the turbine's control valve. The station is owned by Sunflower Electric Power Corporation (Hays, Kansas).
Plant officials said that the leak was not severe, although they will continue to investigate the cause. They now are prepping the unit to begin startup.
The unit is scheduled to return to service at full load today, if there are no delays.
Unit 1 is the station's only operational unit.
