Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Negotiations continue between Radback Energy Incorporated (Danville, California) and Kiewit Power Company (Lenaxa, Kansas), as Radback has chosen Kiewit to be the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for its 644-megawatt (MW), natural gas-fired Oakley Power Station in Oakley, California.
Kiewit will construct and install two combustion turbine generators, with two heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) and a steam turbine utilizing General Electric's (NYSE:GE) rapid response technology. During start-up, the combustion turbines will be at baseload capacity at simple-cycle rates, increasing the power to the grid.
Other equipment to be constructed includes a three-cell evaporative fluid cooler; auxiliary boilers; an operations and maintenance building; an emergency backup generator; and associated equipment. The plant will utilize Pacific Gas & Electric's (San Francisco, California) existing transmission corridor. Radback Energy has a contract to sell the completed facility to Pacific Gas & Electric in 2016, once it becomes operational.
Construction is scheduled for spring 2014.
