Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). This month, privately held Lincoln Pulp and Tissue, LLC (Lincoln, Maine) expects to startup its newest tissue machine located at a pulp and paper mill in Lincoln, Maine. The $36 million capital investment will manufacture 100 tons of high-end tissue per day and double the plant's existing capacity, meanwhile reducing work-order backlogs on the plant's two 50-ton capacity tissue machines. Startup of the new machine is scheduled for August 22, which is twelve months since the start of construction and just days ahead of the original targeted startup date of September 1, 2006.
The new machine was supplied by Metso and is located in a new 160,000 square-foot building adjacent to the two existing machines. Construction management and installation of the tissue machine was completed by Spirit Construction (Savannah, Georgia).
Lincoln Pulp and Tissue restarted the mill in the summer of 2004 and focused production on three product lines: tissue, paper and pulp. Tissue products target party goods and food services markets with special capabilities in deep colors and flexographic napkin stock as well as dry crepe tissue. Within the fine paper markets, the focus is on its core business of hi-yield, recycled products and the pulp mill produces northern bleached hardwood kraft pulp (NBHK).
The Lincoln mill is one of fourteen operational pulp and paper mills in Maine and among the 545 mills in the U.S. and Canada, according to data from Industrial Infos online plant database.
