Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--China No.15 Metallurgical Construction Group Company Limited (15MCC) (Huangshi, Hubei) kicked off the main powerhouse excavation for CPI Ningxia Qingtongxia Energy Aluminum Group Company Limited's (Yinchuan, Ningxia) 700-megawatt (MW), coal-fired Zhongwei Cogeneration Project on March 20, 2014, according to 15MCC.
The project is located in the Meili Industrial Park in Zhongwei City, in northwestern China's Ningxia autonomous region. The project includes two 350-MW, coal-fired, supercritical, air-cooling cogeneration units, together with flue gas desulfurization (FGD), electrostatic precipitators (ESP) and NOx control devices in the initial stage.
15MCC's No.4 Engineering Company won the contract for the project through public bidding earlier this year. 15MCC is responsible for the civil works of units 1 and 2, excluding the stacks. The work includes the main powerhouse structures; the foundation for the electrostatic precipitators; the air blowers room; and more foundation work for the slag removing device, boiler and steam turbine auxiliary equipment, air compressor room, draining slot, and air-cooling towers, as well as other related works.
According to the schedule, Unit 1 will begin commercial operations in August 2015. The total construction period of the project will be 18 months. The project is aimed at helping to meet increased power demand in Zhongwei City, as well as the Ningxia grid.
