Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Privately owned McCain Foods Limited (Florenceville, New Brunswick) plans to start up its new $65 million potato processing plant in Florenceville this week. The facility replaces McCain's first manufacturing plant, which was built 50 years ago. The new state-of-the-art processing facility is expected to consume 50% less water compared to the older plant and reduce electricity and heating costs. In addition to lower operating cost, McCain expects that carbon emissions from the plant will be reduced by burning biogas in the form of potato waste in the plant's boiler.
McCain also has announced plans to build a $150 million french fry and potato specialties plant in Moses Lake, Washington.
