Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Companies in New Zealand's Food & Beverage Industry and other industries are receiving financial aid from the government to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels and convert to cleaner energy alternatives.
Round two of spending from New Zealand's Government Investment in Decarbonising Industry (GIDI) Fund will help pay for 23 projects to assist recipients in transitioning away from fossil fuels, according to the government. New Zealand will pay NZ$28.7 million (US$20.57 million), to be matched with NZ$54.5 million (US$39.06 million) in private funding.
The conversion projects will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 142,591 metric tons, the equivalent of taking more than 40,000 cars off the road, according to the Ministry of Energy and Resources.
Industrial Info is tracking boiler conversion or addition projects that will help five food and beverage plants in New Zealand move away from coal-fired power. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Food & Beverage Project Database can click here for the reports.
